Art and Millie Neal

Arthur & Mildred ‘Millie’ Neal were born and raised in Marshall County, spent their entire married life farming in the Frankfort area, and are remembered by many in the Frankfort community. They were married for 54 years before Millie died in 1984. Their only child, Patricia Ann, died in infancy. Art died in 2008 at age 94.

Both had a passion for agriculture and were partners in their crop and livestock operation. Their farm was a special place of pride for them and the welcome mat was always out as they loved to show their farm to family and friends.

In addition to agriculture, both had a special affection for the Frankfort community. Millie was instrumental in the organization of the Frankfort Community Care Home. Art was a director of the local co-op and treasurer of the township. They loved to spend Saturday night in Frankfort visiting friends.

Because of the love and affection the Neals had for the Frankfort community, Art Neal indicated in his will that $200,000 of his estate be set aside for support of projects to benefit the Frankfort community with special emphasis on youth projects. Only investment income from the Neal gift is used for community projects, to assure a perpetual source of funding.

To broaden the gift, the Neal family established the Frankfort Community Trust. The creation of the Frankfort Community Trust was the beginning of the effort to carry out the Neals’ plan for Frankfort and its youth. The trust provides a vehicle for other persons to contribute to the Frankfort community and other charitable endeavors.
