Eric R Vandorn

Eric Ross Vandorn, 44, died Monday, Dec. 6, 2010, at Bryan Memorial Hospital in Lincoln.

Eric Vandorn was born Jan. 22, 1966, in Marysville. He attended elementary school in Vermillion and graduated from Frankfort High School in 1984. He played on the 1A-2A state champion football team in 1983 and placed second in discus at the state track meet in 1983 and 1984. He holds the high school discus record in Frankfort.

He attended Dodge City Community College, where he played football and later graduated from North Central Kansas Technical College in Beloit in farm mechanics.

He was previously married to Lisa Eilert. They were married in September 1988, and they had one daughter, Rebecca Lynn.

He was a farmer and a welder and also loved music and wrote poetry. He enjoyed being outdoors, especially fishing and bird watching, and was a gifted photographer who always seemed to have his camera in hand.

He loved people and was a generous friend to many. He did mission work in Haiti and donated his hair to Locks of Love four times.

He is survived by his daughter, Rebecca Vandorn, Beloit; his parents, Wendell and Jean Vandorn, Vliets; one brother, Brian, of Wasilla, Alaska; and a sister, Kristin, Double Oak, Texas.
