Gerald "Jerry" Lee Adams

Gerald Lee “Jerry” Adams, 82, Frankfort, KS, died Tuesday, February 21, 2017, at Frankfort Community Care Home. 

Jerry was born on August 15, 1934 to Charles and Rachel (Chilson) Adams, at home in Nemaha County, Kansas.  He attended grades one through eight at Pearl Country School and graduated from Frankfort High School in 1952.  After graduation, he served in the military during the Korean Conflict, first as a carpenter and later as director of the officer’s club in Korea.

Jerry farmed, was a dairyman and loved working with horses and mules.  He traveled to Colorado several times with his mules and loved hunting elk in the mountains.  Jerry suffered a head injury in a mule accident in 1986 and was disabled the remainder of his life, although he was an avid walker and picked up cans around town for recycling for many years.

Jerry married Fern Strifler on August 12, 1956.  She preceded him in death on November 25, 1979.  On October 4, 1980, he married Patricia (Jeffries) Winslow.  She survives.

Other survivors include his seven children, Cindy (Jim) Wessel, Omaha, NE, Connie (Gary) Musil, Tim (Gwen) Adams, Amy (Barry) Jones, Tommy (Vicki) Adams, J.J. (Amy) Adams, all of Frankfort,  Amanda (Justin) Shaw, St. Joseph, MO; two stepchildren, Teresa (Winslow) Bingham, Minneapolis, KS, Troy Winslow, Germany; sister, Rita (Amery) McLean; and sixteen grandchildren, Andy, Aaron, Audra, Adam, Carly, Taylor, Weston, Logan, Sarah, Jessa, Lucas, Rebecca, Peyton, Ainsley, Henry and Stella, with a seventeenth due soon.

Preceding him in death were his parents; first wife, Fern; brother, Charles “Chucky” Adams; and a grandson, Wyatt David Adams.
