James & Linda Armstrong

James D. Armstrong, 76, Frankfort, passed away June 30, 2021 at the Onaga Hospital after suffering a stroke. Visitation was Friday, July 2, from 3 to 8 p.m. at Padden Funeral Chapel. A funeral service was held at 1 p.m., July 3 at the United Methodist Church in Frankfort. Rev. Jim Akins officiated. The musicians were Janet Plegge and Rheta Matson. Music included “Amazing Grace”, “Ave Maria” and “How Great Thou Art”. The pallbearers were Justin Armstrong, Donny Armstrong, John Armstrong, Brad Armstrong, Jeff Stewart and Jerome Winslow. The honorary pallbearers were Roy Miller, Clayton Miller, Ed Fischer, Gene Fischer, Doug Winslow, Jerry Stowell, Dennis Ahlvers and Ed Joseph. Burial was in Antioch Cemetery, southwest of Frankfort.

Jim was born May 23, 1945 on the family farm south of Bigelow, KS the oldest son of Otis and Betty (Floyd) Armstrong. He attended grade school in Bigelow and graduated from Frankfort High School. Jim helped on the family farm and started farming his own ground when he was 16. On December 13, 1975, he married Linda Neal at the United Methodist Church in Frankfort. They were blessed with three children, Aletha Marie, Kelly James and Amy Lee. The family lived on the Allen Raymond farm across the road from the Reserville School house for nine years and then moved to the family farm after the passing of his father. They raised cattle and hogs, grew wheat, milo corn and soybeans and bailed alfalfa, prairie hay and brome hay. Jim always enjoyed going to his children's and grand children’s school events, football games and baseball games. Jim liked spending time with his Corgi, Coco, sitting on the front porch watching the hummingbirds and wrens. He liked watching different farming operation videos on YouTube, to see how farming has changed over the years. In November 2001, they moved to town to help take care of Linda’s father, Lawrence Neal, until he moved to the Frankfort Community Care Home.

Preceding him in death were his parents; stepfather, Lloyd Brott; son, Kelly James Armstrong; and sister-in-law, Mary Armstrong. Survivors include his wife, Linda; daughter, Aletha (John) Perry, Amy (Ryan) Ogg all of Frankfort; brothers, Harold Armstrong, Frankfort, John Allen (Donna) Armstrong, Fairview, Byron (Kathy) Armstrong, Winifred; and grandchildren, Cheyenne (Jesse) Ford, Dallas Armstrong, Hudson Perry and baby boy Ogg coming in October.

Linda S. Armstrong, 66, Frankfort, KS, lost her battle with cancer on March 17, 2023, at her home. Visitation was Tuesday, March 21, from 1 to 8 p.m. at Padden Funeral Chapel in Frankfort. A funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, March 22, at the Frankfort United Methodist Church. Pastor Jim Akins officiated, and Janet Plegge was the organist. The songs played were “Amazing Grace”, “How Great Thou Art” and “In the Garden”. The pallbearers were Justin Armstrong, Donny Armstrong, John Armstrong, Jeff Stewart, Zach Wanklyn and Heath Todd. Honorary pallbearers were Rheta Matson, Nancy Gleason, Mary Jane Fischer, Betty Fischer, Jayne Hearn and Mary Heskett. Burial was in Antioch Cemetery southwest of Frankfort.

Linda was born August 30, 1956 in Concordia Kansas, the youngest child of Lawrence and Mildred (Rosedahl) Neal. She graduated from Frankfort High School in 1974. On December 13, 1975 she married James Armstrong at the United Methodist Church in Frankfort. They were blessed with three children, Aletha Marie, Kelly James, and Amy Lee. Linda enjoyed spending time with her kids and grandkids, baking, crocheting, watching her favorite TV shows, playing fetch with her dog coco. Linda found great joy in making things for others. She also enjoyed baking pumpkin bread and sharing it with everyone. For several years she would bake pumpkin bread and deliver it to the Marshall County sheriff’s office. Linda worked in the health care system for many years, she even started up her own medical transportation business, she named it Rainbows and Bear Hugs. She always wanted to do whatever she could to help others and for many years she donated several gallons of blood to the American Red Cross. She even received a letter stating that her blood was used to save someone’s life. One of the most rewarding jobs of all is when she started working for USD 380, transporting kids to Head Start in Marysville, and even getting her own bus route three times a day. In November 2001, they moved to town to take care of her dad, until he moved to the Frankfort Care Home.

Preceding her in death were her parents; sister, Judy Neal; brother, Lyle Neal; son, Kelly Armstrong; and husband, James Armstrong. Survivors include daughters, Aletha (John) Perry, Amy (Ryan) Ogg, all of Frankfort; four grandchildren, Cheyenne (Jesse) Ford, Dallas Armstrong, Hudson Perry, James Ogg; and her two fur babies, Coco and Sassy.
