The family lived on the Allen Raymond farm across the road from the Reserville School house for nine years and then moved to the family farm after the passing of his father. They raised cattle and hogs, grew wheat, milo corn and soybeans and bailed alfalfa, prairie hay and brome hay. Jim always enjoyed going to his children's and grand children’s school events, football games and baseball games. Jim liked spending time with his Corgi, Coco, sitting on the front porch watching the hummingbirds and wrens. He liked watching different farming operation videos on YouTube, to see how farming has changed over the years. In November 2001, they moved to town to help take care of Linda’s father, Lawrence Neal, until he moved to the Frankfort Community Care Home.
